EXPANSION OF HERSHEYPARK’S CHOCOLATETOWN RESUMES

Construction of Hersheypark’s Chocolatetown in Hershey, Pennsylvania, has been resumed, though an opening date for the park’s 2020 season remains unknown.

The $150 million expansion of Chocolatetown includes the installing of a number of new attractions. The extended area will be home to Hersheytown’s 15th rollercoaster, Candymonium. The ride promises to be the theme park’s largest and faster rollercoaster.

New facilities are being added to the park, including restaurants, food vendors and shops. Fountains and the Hersheypark Carrousel are also being relocated to the new area.

Construction of the extension was suspended at the beginning of April due to the coronavirus outbreak. Garret Gallia of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company, commented on the decision to commence building work: “Given the guidance and permission from the Commonwealth, construction on the Chocolatetown project resumed as of May 1st.

“All enhanced health and safety processes and necessary operational protocols set by the Governor, CDC and the construction industry are being carefully followed to ensure the safety of our team members and the contractors onsite,” Gallia added.

FINAL PIECE OF CANDYMONIUM TRACK PLACED AT HERSHEYPARK

The final piece of track of the new rollercoaster Candymonium has been laid at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania.

The Candymonium hypercoaster is part of a $150 million expansion of Hersey’s Chocolatetown.

Candymonium is the 15th coaster at Hershypark. The ride speeds around a 4,636ft. track for a duration of 2 minutes 26 seconds. Boasting a lift height of 210ft. and reaching a maximum speed of 76mph, Candymonium will be the theme park’s tallest and fastest coaster.

Hershey’s Chocolatetown is a 23-acre development, which is due to open this summer.

On laying the last piece of track of the highly awaited ride, Hershypark tweeted: “The final piece of chocolate brown track has been set on Candymonium.”

As well as being home to the park’s fastest and tallest ride, Hershey’s Chocolateown will feature the biggest themed restaurant in Hershey. Guests will also be able to enjoy refreshments at Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor and the Sweeterie.

HERSHEYPARK UNVEILS ITS NEW CANDYMONIUM ROLLERCOASTER

Hersheypark, the popular family theme park in Hershey, Pennsylvania, has announced it has a new rollercoaster under construction.

Known as the Candymonium, the coaster will be the tallest, longest and fastest ride at the park, with a lift height of 210 feet, a track length of 4,636 feet and the ability to reach speeds of 76 mph.

Candymonium will be part of Hersheypark’s new Chocolatetown expansion. The $150 million new theme park zone expansion will feature restaurants, shops and the highly awaited Candymonium.

Centred on a chocolate theme, Candymonium will have milk chocolate coloured tracks and trains adorned in the candy brands that feature at the park, including Twizzlers, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Hershey’s Kisses.

The new rollercoaster will take riders on a 2-minute-26-second journey in what promises to be Hersheypark’s most immersive rollercoaster to date.

John Lawn, CEO and president of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, referred to Candymonium as “the world’s sweetest coaster”, saying the attraction will “merge fun and iconic Hershey brands to provide a thrilling experience our guests can only get in Hershey.”

“We worked with leading industry manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) to assemble a one-of-a-kind hypercoaster with the most airtime of any coaster in Hersheypark,” Lawn added.

Candymonium is due to open at Hersheypark in the summer of 2020.
