NEW MEDITERRANEAN-STYLE WATERPARK COMING TO SAUDI ARABIA

Anew waterpark is coming to Saudi Arabia. The Mediterranean-themed destination will be known as Jeddah Waterpark and will be powered by a partnership between ProSlide Technology and Rawae Co., a leading waterpark operator in the UK.

The park will feature eight iconic attractions by ProSlide, with transformative technology, purposeful design, and high levels of rider entertainment. The rides include ProSlides’ all-new RallyRacer with open flumes, the iconic family rafting rides, the RocketBLAST technology water coaster, the Tubing complex, Flying Saucer water rides and WaterKINGDOM, which comprises of the of the largest RideHOUSE aquatic play structures.

Philip Baker, vice president business development MEA at ProSlide, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Rawae Co. again to bring their vision of a world-class waterpark to life.

“This will be the largest park of its kind in Saudi Arabia spanning over 110,000sq.mt. and will be powered by unique, iconic, custom-designed attractions featuring the latest ProSlide innovation and technology,” he added.

Mohammed Radwan, founder of Rawae, shared Baker’s excitement for the waterpark, stating: “This is our largest waterpark yet and we were looking for a partner that could help us differentiate from other parks in the region for the long-term.”

Construction for the waterpark has already began and the site is expected to open to the public in the summer 2021.

PROSLIDE SHOWCASES RANGE OF WORLD-CLASS RIDES AT SEA

ProSlide Technology, a world leader in the design and manufacture of water rides and attractions, showcased a series of world-class rides at the Saudi Entertainment and Amusement show (SEA) 2020.

SEA 2020 took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on February 3 – 5. During the event, ProSlide exhibited a number of its newest and most innovative rides and attractions, installed at leading waterparks around the world.

Such attractions include the rides at Rulantica at Europa-Park, Europe’s newest waterpark, which features a number of ProSlide creations, including the CannnonBOWL, the Dueling PIPEline and the TornadoWAVE 60.

In May 2020, a new ProSlide water ride is opening at Holiday World in the United States. Known as the Cheetah Chase, the ride is the world’s first Dueling Launch Water Coaster featuring ProSlide’s RocketBLAST technology.

EUROPA-PARK OPENS ITS DOORS TO RULANTICA

The highly awaited indoor water world, Rulantica, has officially opened at Europa-Park. The €180 million indoor waterpark stretches across 32,600 sq.mt. and features nine themed settings, 25 water attractions, including 17 sides developed by waterpark attraction specialists ProSlide.

The Scandinavian-style waterpark took 26 months in construction. As well as Scandinavian-type landscapes, the waterpark comprises of mystical scenes and imaginative designs.

One key feature of the waterpark is ‘Trølldal’, a water playground for children, comprising of rocks and trees which are inhabited by trolls. Youngsters can have fun in the shallow pool, featuring playing and climbing facilities and slides.

An indoor lazy river meanders its way through ‘Trølldal,’ which is occupied by a loveable octopus named Snorri.

A colourful grotto with a wave pool and huge waterfall is another focal point of the new waterpark.

An adventure pool known as ‘Skip Strand’ comprises of a sunken vessel, flanked by a network of ropes, masts and nets. The ‘Hoppablad’ is another obstacle course at the waterpark, where visitors can jump on floating debris.

Other notable features include slides that whizz past a frozen sea snake named Svalgur, the Isbrekker jump slide, the ‘Vinter Rytt’ steep-wall slide, and the ‘Svalgur Rytt’ rafting slide.

PROSLIDE APPOINTS CHANTAL THEORET AS DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL MARKETING

ProSlide Technology Inc., a leading name in the design and manufacturer of water attractions, has appointed Chantal Theoret as the company’s new director of global marketing.

The appointment is part of ProSlide’s continued global expansion.

As director of global marketing, Theoret will develop and implement strategies and support ProSlide’s worldwide expansion objectives.

Ray Smegal, chief commercial officer at ProSlide, commented on the recent hire. “Chantal is a strategic hire for us as we focus on the growth of our water ride innovations and customer success relationships globally,” Smegal remarked.

“She brings a wide range of marketing and communication experience and is a welcome addition to our senior team.  With our ever-expanding product lines and rapid growth, we will continue to add to our talent pool to ensure we consistently deliver on industry-leading value to our clients,” he added.

While leading the marketing team, Chantal Theoret will work on enhancing ProSlide’s overall brand development and messaging on a global scale.

RAGING WAVES ANNOUNCES NEW SIX-LANE MAT RACING WATERSLIDE

Raging Waves, the largest waterpark in Illinois, has announced it is to introduce a new waterslide attraction to the park in 2020.

The Aussie Mat Dash is a six-lane mat racing slide, which allows riders to see and hear each other.

The Aussie Mat Dash will be located close to Raging Waves’ Cyclone and the Boomerang rides. Developed by ProSlide, the six-lane waterslide is one of just three of its kind in the world. The attraction will feature RallyPOINTs, which enables riders to see and hear one another as they race down enclosed flumes on mats.

The combined slides cover 2,500 ft. Raging Waves commented on the new attraction, stating: “Get ready for the race of a lifetime. Introducing the Aussie Mat Dash – a six lane RallyRACER that is just on of 3 in the world!”

Raging Waves opened in 2008. The 45-acre waterpark is located 45 minutes to the south west of Chicago. The waterpark features a new interactive play area known as Quokka-Nut Island, the Kookaburra Kreek lazy river that stretches for a quarter of a mile, and the huge Great Barrier Reef wave pool.

The waterpark is also home to numerous slides and attractions, including a 600 ft.-long family raft ride known as the Crocodile Miles and the Three Sisters triple-tube ride.

The Aussie Mat Dash is due to open at Raging Waves in the summer of 2020.

TSUNAMI WATERSLIDE IS HEADING TO AUSTRALIA’S ADVENTURE PARK GEELONG

The first monster-sized triple funnel waterslide in Victoria, and only one of two in Australia, is to be installed in the popular family waterpark, Adventure Park Geelong.

Known as The Tsunami, the $4millon slide will stand at a lofty 7.5 storeys high and will take thrill-seekers down a 172-metre length. Up to four guests can occupy each raft, which race down three funnels of thrilling water rapids.

The Tsunami is the creation of Proslide, a world leading designer and manufacturer of water rides and waterpark resorts.

The installation of The Tsunami is part of the second stage of Adventure Park Geelong’s $8 million expansion.

Leanne Salmon, Adventure Park Geelong’s managing director, said The Tsunami will confirm the park as the ultimate go-to waterpark destination for families in Victoria this summer. “The new Tsunami ride provides visitors from near and afar the opportunity to experience a world class adrenaline-charged, monster-sized water ride that is the first of its kind in Victoria,” said Salmon.

“What’s better than one funnel? Three high energy funnels in one lightning fast ride. It’s been custom-designed for us by Proslide, the world’s leading waterslide designers and is a very exciting addition to our existing portfolio of waterslides, action rides and all-day family attractions that keep guests coming back for more,” Salmon added.

The family thrill slide is set to open in November 2019 when the when park reopens for the summer.

NIK PAAS PROMOTED TO PROSLIDE’S REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES – ASIA PACIFIC

ProSlide, a world leader in the design and manufacture of water attractions, has promoted Nik Paas as the company’s new regional vice president of sales in the Asia Pacific region.

Paas served as ProSlide’s vice president of business development since 2010. From 2012, his role was focused predominantly on southeast Asia.

In his new position as regional vice president of sales – Asia Pacific, Nik Paas will be dedicated to developing ProSlide’s services and support in the region.

As Rick Hunter, chairman and CEO of ProSlide commented:

“Nik will play an elevated role in growing the ProSlide brand in Asia, collaborating with our offices in Shanghai and Seoul to connect regional partners with innovative products and services that are specifically tailored to their waterpark.”

Attendance figures for Asia’s leading entertainment sites have been witnessing significant growth in recent years. It is estimated that by 2020 China will be the world’s biggest amusement park industry.

Waterparks in Japan, Vietnam and Korea are also on the rise, with operators increasingly looking for innovative attractions to keep up with demand.

“With the high standards for excellence we’re seeing across the board in Asia, we anticipate continued demand for ProSlide rides,” said Paas.

“We look forward to future success for all our new and existing clients in the region,” he added.

CHEETAH CHASE WATER COASTER COMES TO HOLIDAY WORLD & SPLASHIN’ SAFARI, INDIANA

Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, the popular theme park and waterpark in Santa Claus, Indiana, has announced it’s to be the home of Cheetah Chase, the world’s first launched water coaster.

The $7 million Cheetah Chase is the park’s third water coaster and is the world’s first full-circuit racing water coaster.

The attraction features over 1,700 feet of track and two ProSlide rocketBLAST-powered racing slides. Five RocketBLAST sections are featured on each slide, four uphill and one flat. Standing at 27 feet, the ride has the tallest RocketBLAST section.

Riders are propelled down the slide from a flat, water-powered launch. The water coaster also features the world’s first head-to-head duelling zone on a water coaster. FlyingSAUCER elements are another key feature of the slide, as well as two RallyPOINTS, where rafts synchronise.

Matt Eckert, Holiday World President, commented on the new ride.

“Cheetah Chase is the perfect thrill ride for families. The three-person rafts allow families to race face-to-face, and the launch is the first of its kind.

“There’s nothing like this out there.

“With the addition of Cheetah Chase, Splashin’ Safari will now be the undisputed Water Coaster Capital of the world,” Eckert added.
