DISNEY WORLD OFFERS STEM-FOCUSED PROJECT FOR HOME-LEARNING

 BY GABRIELLE

As Disney resorts stay closed until May and possibly longer, the theme parks are coming up with novel ways to keep guests entertained as they stay at home amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Disney World is offering a STEM-focused project, which enables theme park and Disney enthusiasts to explore the science behind the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The resort is also encouraging people to build their own coaster system at home and share videos and images with the #DisneyMagicMoments hashtag.

Disney is also sharing its recipes, allowing fans to learn how to make the likes of Disney Parks Churro Bites and other culinary favourites. Universal Orlando is also sharing the recipes of its much-loved treats, including the infamous confetti milkshake created at the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen.

On its Facebook page, Legoland Florida is sharing activities, including word search puzzles and virtual build sessions, which teach children how to make a Lego sandwich. Visitors to Legoland Florida’s Facebook page can also go on a 360-degree virtual walk of the theme park.

DISNEY’S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS LAUNCHES MICKEY & MINNIE’S RUNAWAY RAILWAY

 BY GABRIELLE

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction is now open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The innovative ride-through attraction takes guests on a journey through a recreation of the Chinese Theatre and into the world of Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts.

The attraction features Walt Disney Imagineering’s original ‘Perfect Picnic’ story, where Mickey and Minnie try and find the perfect location to have a romantic picnic as they drive through Runnamuck Park in their red convertible. The story is accompanied by the new song ‘Nothing Can Stop Us Now.’

On the journey, guests will attempt to avoid a twister, visit a carnival, escape an exploding volcano, drive through a waterfall and experience a stampede through the Wild West.

Josh D’Amaro, Walt Disney World’s president, spoke about the opening of the new attraction: “Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a crowning achievement in the multiyear transformation of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

“What was once a theme park that took you behind the scenes, now puts you in the centre of your favourite stories,” D’Amaro added.

NEW MARQUEE FOR MICKEY AND MINNIE’S RUNAWAY RAILWAY

BY GABRIELLE

A new video published by Disney has revealed a new neon marquee for the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction. The ride will be debuting in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort on March 4.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be the first ride-through attraction centred on the Mickey and Minnie Mouse characters. It will be a family-friendly ride that brings the guests inside a cartoon to have fun with Mickey and Minnie, as well as the lovable Goofy too.

The cartoon will be a brand new short called Mickey and Minnie’s Perfect Picnic.

Construction on the ride is nearly complete, and the sign for the ride can already be seen. With flashing lights and neon animations of Mickey and Minnie, it certainly promises to be lots of fun for all the family.

In the video published on the Disney Parks YouTube channel, the company’s Imagineering Art Director, Phillip Hillis, says: “This marquee is so important to this attraction because this is Mickey and Minnie’s first attraction. We want to make sure that we are providing an amazing marquee that really celebrates their entrance into a great attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.”

Of the neon Mickey and Minnie animations that have already been glimpsed, Hillis said: “We knew from the beginning that we wanted a neon Mickey and Minnie. We wanted to continue this look of neon all the way down Hollywood Boulevard, but really create this marquee as a beacon that you are guided to.”
